Week 9 Podcast & Videos
I was really excited that I was able to download this video for you to watch. It wasn't the video I was excited about (although I love the music) but the fact that I was able to download it myself. Anyway, listen to it and see what you think.

Week 7 - Wikispace
However after going into elm2008 Wiki then into Sandbox which Peter created and reading the first part of his story, I then contributed to it. This looks like a fun way of getting students involved in writing and will give it a try with my students.
Week 8 - Arranging Meetings
This is the link where people can nominate what times they have free for Melissa's Meeting.

This is the link which shows which times will suit the most people for the meeting.

I tried all the links for 'On line Productivity tools' and every one of them was BLOCKED. Typical.

Week 6 - Delicious Account, exploring Technorati etc.
I already have a delicious account. I have had one for a couple of years now and it is great. The advantages are that you can access anybody else delicious account and end up with some fantastic resources without the bother and hassle of searching. You can see how many people access these resources - which gives you an indication of how good they are. I also like the comments made such as 'great maths resource'. The other advantage is that you can access all your favourite resources from anywhere in the world that has internet access. I found this was great when I was teaching in Oberon, Lithgow, Bathurst and Orange everyweek. It meant that I was able to access my favourite resources and print them off. The disadvantage is that anything you do put on delicious is not private. Therefore, anything that I don't mind sharing, I put into my delicious account. Whereas, anything personal such as my bank account etc, I put into favourites. Here is my delicious account: http://delicious.com/melissa.rees8
Technorati
I've explored Technorati - joined up, found and opened my blog, done this blog post as well as tagged it. However, am not sure how to do the HTML.
What do I think of Tagging.
Tagging is great. It makes it easy to find your resources, as well as easy to find other peoples resources in the same subject area.

Week 5
My students had no trouble blogging and creating an avatar - what a good teacher I must be. However, I had trouble with the RSS feeds until Peter helped me out - what a good teacher he is. Anyway I am now able to get into my students blogs easily and see their updated work each week - great.
Digital Story
I've created quite a few digital stories as well as teaching students to create them, as I teach this every Friday afternoon. They are great fun to do and I've learnt heaps from working with my students. Some of them have created amazing digital stories. I've created a photostory and tried three times to put it on my blog and it refused to co-operate. It keeps saying that there was an error.
Update: Peter came and viewed my photostory and tried many times to put it onto my blog with no luck.
Web 2.0 Awards
This is a terrific site which I really enjoyed exploring. What I didn't like is TAFE's firewall which kept blocking some sites (typical). I tried Games and entertainment but after being blocked three times, gave up. The next area I explored was Foods. I looked at the 1st Prize 'Im Cooking' and learnt how to make Tomato Basic Crostini, vegetarian gravy and lots more. Great videos, and easy to follow. I explored the Galaxy - very informative. I also looked at Writeboards. I did the tour and created my own. Unlike a word document, you can get to your writeboards from any computer in the world with an internet connection. Students can use it to:
- contribute to a group paper
- collaborate with another student in another town, city or country on a project
- collaborate with a friend on wording for their project
- work on any type of text with anyone they wish throughout the world.
It is easy is use - just enter the persons email address.
Smartboards
I use the smartboard every week in my maths lessons - I usually use a visual manipulation to reinforce the objectives of the lesson or to help students gain a better understanding of the concepts being taught. I also use google to find a maths dictionary so that students can understand maths terminology.
At present I am in the process of creating my own lesson on the smartboard on Mapping Skills. It is very time consuming but I am learning heaps through trial and error.

Week 4 - No. 1 RSS Feeds
Week 3 - No. 7
Let me see. Technology I find very frustrating, time consuming and I hate it when things don't go the way I want them to go. However, over the past few weeks I have learnt to create a blog, use flickr, create an avatar, edit my blogs and I'm loving it. Yes, it has been time consuming and that is what I find with technology - you'll find it after much searching, it will work only if it feels like it and depending on the mood of my computer, will let me view it after much groaning and snoozing.
Frustrating, definitely. Challenging, very. Enjoyable - yes, but only if the damn thing works.
